Heathcote into the Finals

Weekend Pennant

Division 3

Despite being defeated on Saturday, Division 3 have held onto 4th place and will play Golden Square next week in the elimination semi final.

Bill Gardiner lost the first 4 ends but fought back to trail by only a shot after 12 ends. Bills team then struggled winning only 2 more ends to lose by 15 shots.

John McGillivray made an even start with scores level after 12 ends. Despite their best efforts Johns team only won 4 more ends to go down by 8 shots.

Chris Morcom started well winning the first 4 ends and led by 11 shots by the 14th end. Chris team won only 2 more ends but held onto to win by 6 shots.

Greg Speirs made a poor start and trailed by 12 shots on the 11th end. Gregs team lifted winning 9 of the next 10 ends but lost a shot on the last end to lose by a shot.

Division 6

Heathcote had a thrilling 1 shot win over Woodbury to get off the bottom of the ladder and avoid relegation.

Alan Perry started slowly and by the 14th end trailed by 8 shots. Shots and ends were then shared but Alan’s team went down by 7 shots.

Denise Anderson made an even start with scores level on the 9th,13th and again on the 20th end.Denise’s team lost the last few ends and lost by 4 shots.

Eileen O’Brien won the first 3 ends and led by 13 ends after 14 ends.Eileen’s team kept up the good form winning the last end to win by 11 shots.

Chris Cail had a great start winning the first 6 ends to lead by 11 shots to 0.Chris’s team then struggled but won the last 4 end to win by a shot.

 

Midweek Bowls Results

Heathcote travelled to Bendigo to play Bendigo East in the elimination semi final.After an even start Heathcote struggled but fought back to go down by only 8 shots.

Chris Cail started well but by the 13th end trailed by 13 shots. Shots and ends were then shared but Chris team went down by 15 shots.

Sharyn Vowels made an even with scores level after 5 ends but then struggled to be down by 5 shits after 12 ends.Sharyns team lost the last end to tie the the game.

Denise Anderson started well to lead by 7 shots after 13 ends.Denise’s team continues to play well and despite losing the last 2 ends won by 7 shots.

Ladies Pairs Championship

Last week the Ladies Pairs Championship was contested between Rae Craig/Dot Cutajar and Chris Cail/Lorraine Speirs. After an even start Rae and Dot drew away to lead by 13 shots after 15 ends. Chris and Lorraine fought back but lost the last end to lose by only 8 shots. The Heathcote Bowling Club congratulates Rae Craig and Dot Cutajar on winning the 2018/19 Ladies Pairs Championship.

Mens Pairs Chamionship

Yesterday the Men’s Pairs Championship was contested between Glen Wilkie/Kelvin Hamilton and Peter Zander/Tom Aylett. A four on an early end, had Glen & Kelvin away to a good start, however after 9 ends, it was 9 all. The titanic struggle continued, and at the 17 end, scores were again tied at 17 all. A single shot on the last end saw Glen & Kelvin sneak home. Great game by all four competitors, and congratulations to Glen & Kelvin. (give the spuds away)
